AMA EZB Rules Change Proposal (Weight Restriction)

E-mail Print PDF

Wally Miller, the originator of the EZB class, and Larry Coslick feel that the decline of the AMA EZB in competition stems from the fact that most of the fliers can not build down to the current trend of .3 to .5 gram models.

After a year of careful consideration, we think that a weight restriction would help in the re-insurgence of the event. We plan on submitting a rules change proposal to the AMA in this calendar year if there is sufficient support for the project.

BEAMS - "A Day in the Hanger"

E-mail Print PDF

Hello BEAMS Members, Boeing Employees, Northwest Modelers, Students, Educators and Friends,

BEAMS (Boeing Employees' Aerodynamic Modeling Society) is pleased to announce our next big model airplane event, the 13th Annual "A Day in the Hangar" to be held inside the Boeing Factory in Everett, Washington, Saturday, March 31th, between 7:00a.m. and 6:00p.m. Registration deadline is March 17th.

We are delighted that Boeing Manufacturing and Engineering has made space for this event, in light of the busy production schedule in the Everett Hangar. To fly indoor models in such a huge open space (10 million cubic feet) is a real treat.

We have made some changes to this annual event to create a more "fun and family" atmosphere. For example, there will be four pre-event workshops to help participants prepare their models. Complete
Registration forms and details are posted on the BEAMS website:
www.beams.ws

So, we invite you to be part of this traditional opportunity to safely witness the joy of aerodynamics, inside the largest airplane hangar in the world.

* Informal "indoor flying" for novice and experience modelers. This year we are not having any contests...just come and enjoy the space.
* Youth and adults flying indoor model airplanes together and learning about aerodynamic principles.
* Flight and building demonstrations of indoor rubber powered models and gliders
* Inspiring our next generation of modelers and future aviation professionals
* Models will be available to be flown by novices with experienced modelers

Please share this information with others. Hope to see you there... !

EZB rules change proposal

E-mail Print PDF

I received this today from Larry Coslick and was asked to post it on the site... I am putting a discussion forum up for all comments and responses... The direct link to the discussion is:

EZB rules change proposal

Wally Miller and I think that the current AMA EZB event is headed for the indoor grave yard unless one change is made in the rules. The numbers for F1L fliers has been increasing while EZB has been on the decline for a number of years. This is primarily due to the fact that a lot of guys are not keeping up with the current trend of light .3 to .5gram models. There are probably a lot of .7 to .8 gram models stored away in model boxes and we would like to see them compete again. We would like to see the current EZB rule changed from an unlimited weight to one of either .7, .75 or .8 gram. We are throwing this out for the indoor community to discuss and will follow the lead of what the majority of the fliers want in the regards of minimum weight.
